Best fish & chips in darlington, if you want good quality food this is the place, fresh chips that are nice and golden, the fish was mouth watering, i haven't seen a good quality fish like that at any other chip in darlington. The batters light and fluffy without being greasy or soggy.
Portions are huge and they have a good selection of other goodies like sausages, burgers, spam, black pudding etc...
My work collegues and friends all come here for their fish & chips, and some travel 5-6 miles. my son and daughter won't go to any other chip shop at all.
so if you want great food this is the place. -

The good name of Eric's fish bar is well known in the area. It has recently been taken over but still has a good reputation.
I think the portion size of especially the chip is well generous thou I don't recon much to the fish but this is not knocking Eric's as my opinion is that practically all fish and chip shops in the UK give us a poor deal on the fish. I personally travel to Middlesbrough when fish and chips is on our menu for tea and apart from Middlesbrough the next place is Whitby (seriously)
Eric's actually delivers what is unusual for a chipy and I know this is useful for some pensioners I know who get together once each week.
Eric's has just changed it's name to Frydays -

Erics has now changed their name to Frydays but the service, portions and quality are still the same!
As award winning fryers they know that people expect a decent amount for their money and certainly don't skimp. The girls behind the counter are always friendly and offer to put salt and vinegar on before handing the packages over with a smile.
Unusual orders are welcomed and there is a delivery service if you can't face going out on cold winter nights! -

open all the time and you get enourmous portions. problem is they are normally greasy and dont taste too nice. would reccomend it to someone walking home after an afternoon on the beer, but not ot someone who has just had a poo day at work and cant be bothered cooking.

This is a very helpful fish and chip shop to know about as Frydays as it is now known opens much later than others in the area. Portions are huge so you only need one chips betweeen two however they can be a bit greasy. The fish and other main items are generally good quality and as it's such a busy shop they often have a range of things all ready. Staff are friendly and you can usually grab a parking spot outside.
